Overview

Augusta Systems powers intelligent enterprise networks.

Enterprise networks are becoming more complex. Sensors, actuators, wireless sensor networks, RFID systems, imagery devices, and other edge assets are deployed in increasing numbers to satisfy enterprise requirements for more sophisticated and detailed information from field networks, building systems, and remote installations. In order to achieve Network 2.0, a truly intelligent network from edge to core, enterprises must overcome the cost and capacity issues that interfere with optimal utilization of data from edge assets, which provide physical world sensing and control capabilities.

From a cost perspective, the integration of diverse data from edge assets into enterprise networks, systems, and applications often requires a great deal of development, testing, and deployment time for customized software code and middleware components. Because of the time involved, some enterprises skip this task altogether, leading to underutilized investments. As a result, critical assets are stranded outside of enterprise networks and systems, providing little value to the enterprise. The end results are wasted time and assets.

From a capacity perspective, the convergence of edge assets into enterprise networks can overwhelm the bandwidth of networks, especially wireless networks. In addition, the volume of data received by enterprise end-users without prior filtering and event detection could overwhelm these end-users. A lack of capacity can lead to inefficient networks and overwhelmed personnel.

Augusta Systems products and integration services can help enterprises to overcome the challenges of cost and capacity and maximize edge asset deployments to enable dynamic security, monitoring, automation, and asset tracking applications.

By providing platforms for the intelligent convergence of data from these diverse edge assets, Augusta Systems technologies enable intelligent enterprise networks and support the building and management of converged enterprise solutions. These solutions are achieved through seven key capabilities of Augusta Systems technologies: integration; protocol/format encoding and decoding; complex event processing; notifications and alerts; event and policy-based actions; data correlation and fusion; and bi-directional communications (for monitoring and control).
