Overview

EdgeFrontier is middleware for building and managing intelligent networks, systems, and applications featuring data from edge assets. Enterprises can build and manage intelligent networks from the edge to the core using their existing enterprise network infrastructure and EdgeFrontier.

EdgeFrontier can be configured easily to receive, process, correlate, and communicate data from edge assets. These edge assets can include sensors, actuators, wireless sensor networks, RFID systems, video cameras, reclosers, and switches, as well as enterprise file and data repositories.

With the installation of EdgeFrontier Engine™ on gateways, servers, or other computing systems, and EdgeFrontier Client™ on remote workstations and PCs, users are provided with a complete, remotely configurable middleware solution for integration, processing, correlation, distribution, and control throughout the network – from the edge to the core. In addition, EdgeFrontier acts as an edge application server and can be configured as an edge enterprise service bus, providing an abstraction layer to support processing and distribution of data without writing code.

EdgeFrontier supports the utilization of the existing enterprise network infrastructure. EdgeFrontier can distribute data to and exercise control over multiple network devices and applications via TCP and UDP communication protocols or via other connections within wired and wireless deployments – including WiFi, WiFi mesh, WiMax, ZigBee, and others. In addition, third-party processing software and algorithms or user-produced code can be implemented easily to further extend the capabilities of EdgeFrontier to support intelligent networks.

As EdgeFrontier supports the convergence and distribution of data from edge assets into enterprise networks, it helps to eliminate silos of information and empowers the availability of information to multiple enterprise systems through service-oriented architecture (SOA) methods. For enterprises, EdgeFrontier allows for streamlined development, monitoring, management, and customization of fully extensible control systems and sensor networks.

With these attributes, EdgeFrontier helps to transcend the issues of cost and capacity for the development and management of intelligent networks that extend the IT infrastructure and IP network to the physical world of edge assets.
