Augusta Systems Joins Microsoft Visual Studio Industry Partner Program
Morgantown, W.Va. -- Augusta Systems, a provider of technologies to reduce deployment and management costs of sensor systems, networks and applications, has joined the Microsoft Visual Studio Industry Partner (VSIP) program as a Premier Partner. The company’s flagship product, SensorBridge, is a development platform for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, featuring authoring tools and run-time components, that powers sensor systems, networks and applications.
“Visual Studio 2005 provided a foundation from which we could develop SensorBridge,” said Patrick Esposito II, president and chief operating officer of Augusta Systems. “Through tools like Visual Studio 2005, Microsoft empowers developers and enables them to create innovative solutions. We’re proud to join the Microsoft VSIP program.”
“Microsoft is pleased to welcome Augusta Systems to the VSIP program and is excited about the opportunities this alliance will create for our mutual customers,” said Joe Marini, group product manager of the .NET Developer Marketing Division at Microsoft Corp. “Microsoft’s development tools ecosystem is thriving, and Augusta Systems’ decision to integrate SensorBridge with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 is a clear testament to that.”
Augusta Systems built SensorBridge as a toolkit and component suite for Visual Studio 2005 because of the widespread use of Visual Studio 2005 among engineers and developers working with sensor data.
“Up to this point, engineers and software developers have been forced to develop custom interfaces and applications for each new sensor added to an existing network or for each new system. This is time intensive and costly,” said Esposito. “Operating within Visual Studio 2005, SensorBridge overcomes this challenge and bridges the gap between sensor data and the end-user. It performs the back-end work, allowing developers to focus on the front-end systems and applications.”
SensorBridge operates through a series of powerful and extensive components: data interfacing components, rule-based data structuring components, data filtering components, data group and fusion components and data logging components. These components function within an extensive design-time environment and customizable coding environment.
“Thanks to these powerful and extensive components, SensorBridge enables the most efficient and effective use and convergence of sensor data,” Esposito said. “It powers rapid sensor data integration into existing systems, streamlines sensor system and application development and enables flexible sensor system and network management. It can be deployed on LAN computers, workstations, servers, sensor data aggregation devices, sensor data repositories and more.”
Benefits of SensorBridge to users include:
Enabling integration and utilization of sensor data and sensor-like devices
Enabling of real-time incident response, investigation and action
Maximizing existing client technology assets and leveraging future investments by being an open, scalable platform
Increasing value of sensor data through system and network-driven correlations and access
Reducing total cost of ownership of sensor systems and networks
Increasing ROI for sensors, sensor systems and sensor networks
SensorBridge is available through annual developer licenses, device run-time licenses and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) licenses. A limited trial version is also available.
